Volunteers Needed!

As Animal Alliance continues to grow and to fulfill our central mission of rescuing animals and providing low-cost spay and neuter services, we are in need of more volunteers to help us with these efforts! It is time to put some more structures in place to support Animal Alliance, especially in the areas of Fundraising and PR. Animal Alliance is a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit organization. We need to raise more money to support our efforts and also to get the word out about the great things that Animal Alliance is doing to help animals.

We have formed five main committees — Fundraising, PR, Adoption Days/Spay and Neuter, Special Events, and Finance. We have committee heads for each of these committees but need more volunteers to help on these committees, as well as volunteers who will specifically fill the following roles. Please take a look at the list and see if you might be able to help us out with something. No matter what types of skills you can offer or how much time you have to spare, there is something you can do to help the animals!

If you can help with any of the positions listed here, please fill out our application form or email us at animalalliance@comcast.net, and enter VOLUNTEER in the subject line.

FUNDRAISING — We need volunteers to:

  • place donation cans in local stores, check the cans monthly, and get the money to Animal Alliance.

  • sit outside a local store or supermarket with information about Animal Alliance and a donation can to raise money and also to take donations of supplies.

ADOPTION DAYS/ SPAY AND NEUTER — We need volunteers to:

  • attend adoption days to hold a dog’s leash and speak to the public about the dog and answer questions — for each volunteer at an adoption day we can bring along another dog who then has a chance to be adopted!

  • we also need motivated volunteers who would be willing to head up adoption teams as we look to expand into new venues in the Belle Mead/ Flemington/Pennington/Lambertville areas. Our current venues are Petmosphere in Whitehouse Station, Pet Valu in Hillsborough, and Dogs & Cats Rule in Pennington.

  • we need an organized, detail-oriented person who would like to take charge of organizing Spay/ Neuter Days for us — tasks would include arranging for the spay/neuter van and location for the van, lining up volunteers for the event, working with the PR committee to send out press releases and place fliers, speaking with community members who would like to arrange for low cost spay/neuter, and keeping records of the animals who will be attending and the costs. This could also be shared between two people. We will be having a Spay Day in August and interested volunteers can work with the current Spay Day organizer to plan this event and see what it entails.

  • other volunteers are also needed for the Spay Day team, to attend the Spay Days which should be about 3 or 4 times a year and help register animals, monitor recovering animals and supervise pick-up. The current Spay Day location is Lambertville.

PUBLIC RELATIONS — We need volunteers to::

  • write press releases that will help raise awareness about Animal Alliance and what we do, specifically spay/neuter and the many animals we have rescued with special medical needs.

  • send press releases to local papers and coordinate with the papers to ensure that releases are printed.

  • make fliers as needed to advertise adoption days, Spay Days and other events.

SPECIAL EVENTS — We need volunteers to:

  • attend local street fairs and sit at an Animal Alliance table to speak with members of the public and raise money for Animal Alliance.

  • let us know if you see local fairs or special events that Animal Alliance could attend — you can pass this information on to Susan at smasinda@bloomfield.com. We also need volunteers to make the necessary arrangements with the event organizers and set up a group of volunteers to attend.

ALSO — We need a computer-savvy person to help us design and maintain a volunteer skill database as information is received from people who would like to volunteer, so that all committee heads can easily access this information as they are in need of specific volunteers.

We want you to join our crew!

Please fill out our Volunteer Application or email volunteer@animalalliancenj.org to volunteer today!
