Trinkle Receives "Hero To Animals" Award From Animal Welfare Federation Of New Jersey |
||||
AWFNJ is a statewide coalition whose mission is to unite all New Jersey animal protection organizations, to exchange ideas and information to work collectively to elevate the standard of care and level of knowledge related to animal welfare in the state of New Jersey. Incorporated in 1995, the AWFNJ acts as a unifying voice for the animal protection community. The AWFNJ advocates on animal welfare legislation, encourages the enforcement of animal cruelty laws, develops programs to elevate the quality of care for animals, acts as a resource to help members solve common problems, and engages in activities to encourage and promote kindness and compassion toward animals and the prevention of cruelty to animals. To learn more about AWFNJ, visit www.awfnj.org. Each year AWFNJ selects a "Hero to Animals" award recipient based on peer nomination and individual accomplishment and leadership in the field of animal welfare. Anne Trinkle, a Hopewell Township resident, founded Animal Alliance in 2002 to serve the Hillsborough/Belle Mead/Princeton area, including a multi-year animal control contract with the Township of Montgomery. Animal Alliance, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit charitable organization, is an all-volunteer network that rescues animals in immediate danger of euthanasia from several animal shelters. We place animals removed from the shelters into foster homes where they are rehabilitated, spayed/neutered, restored to health, and readied for a speedy adoption to carefully chosen adoptive families. Animal Alliance finds euthanasia to be an unacceptable fate for adoptable animals, and strives to educate the public about the surplus of adoptable animals in shelters, the critical importance of spay/neuter, and responsible pet ownership. Each year Animal Alliance places an average of 500 animals into adoptive homes, all of which are altered prior to adoption. |
