"I had always thought that if shelter dogs were trained and housebroken, they would be more adoptable. I applied to various shelters and rescues, but they either didn't have a foster program, or were so restrictive in their policies that I found myself on endless waiting lists.

When I applied to Animal Alliance, I found myself meeting the founder, Anne Trinkle, the very next day. She handed me the leash of a frenzied little dog who could not stay still or even stay on the ground for that matter. 'This is Chad. He could use a little training.' I thought that I had gotten myself into something more than I could handle.

I swallowed hard and decided I would give it a try. Chad was so smart and eager to please, that within a week he was walking at the heel, doing figure eights, and had sit and stay down pat. He met his prospective adopters a few days later and dazzled them with his quiet manners and eager obedience. At that point, I was hooked. It is so rewarding to know that you have helped a rescue dog. I've met so many kind people, and known so many grateful dogs since I've been fostering at Animal Alliance.

Some people ask me how I can give up the dogs I foster; I tell them that I know they are going to good homes, thoroughly checked out by Animal Alliance. I also tell them that for every dog I hand over to his/her new family, I am going to save another dog from being euthanized.

I greatly admire Anne and all the Animal Alliance gang for their work, and I am proud to be a part of this band of angels who rescue the lost and lonely and find them the warmth and comfort of a loving home."
