Max
"Max lived in an abandoned
house in Trenton where he was a "guard dog." When his [guardian] kicked
him down a staircase, Max injured his back and became paralyzed in his back
legs. Since Max was no longer useful as a guard dog, his "guardian," fortunately,
let the rescue group Animal Allies take him at that point.
Max lived in foster
care for about six months and received acupuncture for his back. The acupuncture
quickly helped Max and today he has the use of his back legs again and can
get around quite well. I adopted him in April of 2002. He is the world's best
dog and is wonderful with children and my cats."

"Jackson was picked
up by Animal Control in Hopewell in September of 2002. He had been living outdoors,
perhaps abandoned by his family due to his health problems. He weighed only
five pounds and the vet estimated that he was about 20 years old. Animal Alliance
rescued Jackson on the day he would have been put to sleep. He was very sick
when we first got him, with hyperthyroidism and liver problems. I fostered Jackson
and decided to adopt him for Christmas that year. He gradually got better and
received Radioactive Iodine treatment for his hyperthyroidism. Today Jackson
is plump and happy. He has staked out his bed in the kitchen and prefers not
to leave the kitchen since he sometimes gets confused in new locations!"

Grace

"Grace came to Animal
Alliance through one of our wonderful foster parents, Tammi Graciano. Tammi
found her outside near her home, covered in animal bites. Tammi nursed Grace
back to health and fostered her for a year, but looked for a new foster home
for Grace when she was mercilessly persecuted by Tammi's other animals. Grace
went to another foster home and then came to my house, where she has thrived
ever since and gets along beautifully with the other cats. Grace was diagnosed
with kidney disease and she is doing well with fluids and acupuncture. She is
a tiny cat with a wonderfully sweet personality." |

"Isis was my first
cat. I adopted her in October 1999 while I was living in Massachusetts. She
is the queen of the household - she supervises all activities and makes sure
that I am never late for a feeding. She will bite my ankles if I'm too slow
with the food! I adopted Maya in September 2000 as a companion for Isis. Maya
is a gentle cat and allows Isis to set the agenda for the two of them. They
often sleep together and work in tandem to plot against the dog!" |
